This cream cheese frosting with brown sugar and honey is a nice alternative to the classic recipe. We use it to frost cocktail cake. Try it on applesauce, spice, banana, or carrot cakes.

Ingredients

Original recipe (1X) yields 8 servings

  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled

  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon almond extract

  • 1 tablespoon honey

Directions

  1. Beat cream cheese, butter, brown sugar, vanilla, and almond extract with an electric mixer in a large bowl until mixture begins to stiffen.

  2. Pour in honey. Continue beating until a whipped consistency is reached; do not overmix as it will collapse. Use immediately or store covered in the refrigerator.
