Move Over, Velveeta—This 2-Ingredient Cheese Dip Is My New Fave

Trader Joe’s snacks are pretty amazing on their own—we’re looking at you, Pumpkin Caramel Kringle—but sometimes, a TJ’s mashup creates something unexpectedly delicious. In this case,  it’s combining Pub Cheese and Trader Joe's Cowboy Caviar to make a flavorful cheesy dip. 

Social media users have been mixing the two products together and microwaving them to make a queso-like dip that’s perfect for scooping up with tortilla chips or slathering on an amped-up burger. Using just two ingredients and requiring no prep, it practically comes together faster than you can say “draw” to two cowboys in a standoff.

Commenters said, “I housed this in one sitting, would recommend,” and, “GIRL ITS SO GOOD I CONFIRM.” Some also recommended swapping the regular pub cheese for Trader Joe’s jalapeño-studded pub cheese for a slightly spicier version of the dip. On one Reddit thread, a user recommended mixing TJ’s Unexpected Cheddar Spread with the cowboy caviar for a similar scoopable dip. 

To make the dip, this TikTok creator mixed equal parts Pub Cheese and Trader Joe’s Cowboy Caviar together, though you can adjust the ratio based on your preference. We’d recommend microwaving in 15- to 30-second increments and stirring in between to ensure that the cheese doesn’t get too hot. After microwaving, you’re ready to enjoy.

While this dip is having a viral moment, it’s not the first time people mixed the pub cheese and bean, corn, and pepper-ladden salsa. A Reddit user on a thread discussing Cowboy Caviar recommended the combo four years ago. We’re taking it as a sign that this is a snack you’ll want to make again and again. It may even rank among some of our favorite queso recipes.
