Additional Candy and Snacks Sold at Walmart and Target Recalled for Possible Salmonella

The FDA just announced an update to a candy recall on May 17. The notice was originally issued on May 5 by Palmer Candy Company of Sioux City, Iowa which recalled its "White Coated Confectionary Items" because of potential salmonella contamination.

The recalled candy was distributed nationwide to Walmart, HyVee, Target, Dollar General, and to distributors in Alabama, California, Florida, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.

How to Identify the Recalled White-Coated Candy

This announcement was updated to include two new items, plus additional best-by dates of the products, noted in bold:

The following products have been recalled, although the product names may not readily identify them. Not all of them have been packaged under the brand Palmer. Scroll to the bottom of the FDA recall page to see photos of the packaging of each recalled item.

Still no illnesses have been reported at the time of this writing. Palmer was notified by the supplier from which it sourced the liquid candy coating that there was a "potential for contamination with salmonella."
