Southern Baked Beans Be the first to rate & review! This is a unusual version of baked beans. This is a southern version that honors the combination of bean types and a smoky flavor. Many, many compliments on these beans. Can be served as a side or main dish. Submitted by Momma Lisa Published on November 21, 2014 Save Rate Print Share Prep Time: 45 mins Cook Time: 5 hrs 25 mins Total Time: 2 mins Servings: 12 Cook Mode (Keep screen awake) Ingredients 1 pound lean pork sausage, browned and drained 1/2 pound bacon, browned and drained 2 cloves peeled and minced 1 large sweet onion, chopped and browned with the meat 3 TBL molasses 2 Tsp liquid smoke 1 TBL worcestershire sauce 1/3 cup cider vinegar 3/4 cup brown sugar 1 cup ketchup 1 TBL dry prepared mustard 2 Tsp salt 1/2 Tsp pepper 1/2 teaspoon chili powder 2 (16 ounce) can pork and beans, undrained 2 (16 ounce) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained 2 cans of butter beans, drained 1 can of lima beans, drained Directions Directions 1.In a large skillet, cook pork, bacon, garlic and onion until meat is done and onion is tender. Drain any fat. Combine all remaining ingredients except beans. Add to meat mixture; mix well and cook for 30 minutes. Next, stir in the beans. Then place in a greased 2-1/2-qt. casserole.
