Much better than I anticipated and my husband was utterly amazed. :) I followed the recipe except I cut the salt in half, left out the caraway seeds and added a can of mushroom slices. Really good and VERY filling! Thanks, Adpa!
Incredibly good! My mouth watered all day - - the aroma is that tempting. I followed the recipe exactly. Served it with tortillas. Toppings are the icing on the cake: pickled red onions, shredded lettuce, sour cream and avocado. Wonderful low-carb when you use the right tortillas. :)
I made this for some friends and it was a HUGE hit. Following suggestions of others, I reduced broth amount to two quarts and one can. I also omitted the chopped peppers since I was serving it to others, and used only approximately 3 TBSP of Cajun seasoning, tasting as I added a bit at a time. I also sauteed the shrimp separately in a little garlic-infused olive oil and let people add their own to the gumbo. Add some nice French bread and bring in some beignets and you have a perfect meal!
Best. Carrots. Ever. Not too sweet, not too vinegary. And a nice, colorful presentation. Melt in your mouth goodness! I followed the recipe except for omitting the chives.
