Sesame sweet and sour chicken with vegetables

This sweet and sour chicken recipe is to die for!My family's most favorite and demanded one.Inspired by Chinese cuisine.It contains Crispy fried chicken pieces coated with sweet and sour sauce.And a twist of sesame seeds takes the flavor to some other level.Served with different styles but I would recommend serving with garlic fried rice.

Ingredients

  • For chicken marination:

  • Chicken breasts 2 (cut in small cubes or julienne)

  • Vinegar 4tbs

  • Soy sauce 2 tbs

  • salt & black pepper powder A pinch

  • Ginger-garlic paste 1ts

  • Chili sauce 2tbs

  • For coating batter:

  • Flour 1/2 cup

  • Egg 1

  • Salt & black pepper powder A pinch

  • Corn flour 4 tbs

  • For gravy:

  • Garlic cloves(finely chopped) 4-5

  • Knorr chicken cubes 2

  • Fruit vinegar 4 tbs

  • Soy sauce 4tbs

  • Oyster sauce 1tbs

  • Chili sauce 2tbs

  • Brown sugar 3tbs

  • Sesame seeds 3 tbs

  • Ketchup 1/2 cup

  • Crushed red chili pepper 1ts

  • Salt 1/2 ts

  • Corn flour 4tbs (to thicken)

  • Vegetables:

  • Cabbage (julienne cut) 1/2

  • Spring onion 2 (diagonally cut)

  • Carrots 2 (julienne or diagonally cut)

  • Capsicum 2 (cut in cubes)

  • Also need oil for frying

Directions

  1. Marinate chicken (with marination ingredients) and leave for about an hour.

  2. Mix all the coating ingredients in a bowl with cold water (cold water makes the coating more crispy and crunchy) and make a thick paste like batter.Coat chicken pieces with corn flour first then in the liquid batter.

  3. Deep fry chicken on medium- high heat till golden brown from both sides.Drain on a kitchen towel and leave it a side.

  4. Mix Knorr chicken cubes with 1/2 cup of water and keep it a side.

  5. Stir fry all the vegetable and dish out..

  6. In a separate wok heat 3 tbs of oil then add chopped garlic.Fry till golden brown.Then add all the spices,sauces,ketchup,brown sugar,sesame seeds and chicken cubes,let it cook for a minute.

  7. Mix vegetables in gravy.Dissolve 2 tbs corn flour in 1/2 cup of water and pour in the mixture.Let the sauce thicken in a minute or two.Then turn off the flame.

  8. Mix fried chicken pieces with the vegetables and serve with garlic fried rice and enjoy ;)

  9. Tip:"Leave chicken almost 3-4 hours for marination.It will make the chicken absorb all the spices and sauces properly.Also helps chicken cook soon leaving it so tender and juicy"
