I needed a fast pasta with a lot of veggies and a non-creamy sauce for Pasta Wednesday - this was ideal! I used chickpea pasta and whatever veggies I had, either frozen or fresh, and left out the capers since we didn't have any.....de-lish!
Delicious, juicy, and tender! Pretty good quick weeknight main dish, too. I added onion powder with the salt and pepper prior to adding to the pan and mixed up leftover honey mustard with some stone ground mustard we had already. We ate it with steamed white rice and steamed broccoli. This seems pretty versatile cand could be a basis for adding different spices and other ingredients, as well. Will make again!
Excellent vegetable beef stew! Made it mostly to the recipe, but subbed I'm purple cabbage for mushrooms (only bc I didn't have any). Ready to eat in less than 2 hours after living up to close to high heat for 15 minutes or so to cook the meat faster. I was impressed how well the flavors from the seared meat and veggies went together. I also had to use veggie stock (also didn't have beef stock), but threw in 2 beef bouillon cubes while it was simmering. This one is going in the Fall/Winter night go-tos!
First time making quinoa and I followed this recipe exactly as directed. I used Inca Red Quinoa, which came out perfect and delicious! My hub and I both had second servings, even. I did add a couple dashes of turmeric b/c it's good for the heart, but no modifications other than that. Great recipe!
I was hesitant to make this recipe after reading the less than positive reviews, but I just let mine cool and so far they are gorgeous, perfectly coming out of the pan and perfect consistency. I used all of the ingredients but subbed butter for shortening and added dry vanilla pudding mix to the batter before baking. I followed the suggestion from the review to sift the sugar, AP flour, and salt tough together (did it twice) and using room temperature milk, butter, and eggs. If it tastes anywhere close to as good as it looks, this will go into my vault of basic yellow cakes that is anything BUT basic and so easy!! I plan to frost using the double chocolate cream frosting from this website, as well! I'll update my rating after I've treated it and post my pics later. Thanks for the great recipe and helpful tips!
