This was awesome, the crumbles came out just right, the filling was not runny, and it was perfectly sweet, not overly sweet at all. I made this exactly as written except I used Vegan butter instead of real butter. Since I am not an experienced pie maker I took other reviews advice and used 6 medium Cosmic Crisp apples and I ended up- with way too much filling. I only had one crust so I just made a crumble in a 2nd pie dish. Even so, there was enough crumble for both pies. Thanks so much for the recipe!

At Friendsgiving where everyone had already offered to bring everything, so I needed a unique snack to bring. This did it, they got lots of compliments.
Thanks Chef John, it was an excellent and simple meal. I used instant potatoes because my wife had a lot of them left over from another meal. She had used beef bouillon instead of water when she made them. I had a pound and a half of Pork Loin left over also, so I ground it up and used that instead of beef. I used bouillon for the broth and doubled it, then let it reduce to let all the flavors blend together and to cook the frozen veggies all the way through. The flavor was just wonderful!
Chef John does it again. I used Chicken breast cut into wing size pieces instead of wings and the chicken finished very close to the texture and feeling of fried chicken. The sauce is pretty spicy, but it all came out beautiful, just like the pictures *that almost never happens!*
Since it is just my wife and I, I used a single chicken breast so I had to reduce the cooking time to 15 minutes total which didn't make me mad. I will be making this again!
