Goulash - They Way I Remember It

This is the way my mom made us goulash when we were kids. She never used a lot of seasonings when cooking and she doesn't care for garlic. It's very simple and is made with only 4 ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (ground turkery, or soy crumbles can be used)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 3/4 of a 1 lb. box of small pasta shells

  • 2 14.5 oz cans diced tomotoes, undrained

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Bring water to a boil in a large pot, cook pasta according to package directions. There should be about 1/4 of the pasta left in the box.

  2. In a large skillet brown ground beef and onion until ground beef is completly browned, drain oil and return beef to pan.

  3. Add the two cans of diced tomotoes to the ground beef.

  4. Drain pasta and add it to the ground beef and tomatoes.

  5. Stir and cook on medium heat until heated through.

Cook’s Note

  • I like to add a diced green pepper and 2 cloves minced garlic in with the ground beef and onion.
