Chef John DID NOT LIE. This truly is the BEST BANANA BREAD recipe out there and I have made toooons of BB recipes over the last 30 yrs. This has the absolute perfect ratio of every ingredient. I will never make another recipe. This is it! PS in the video he says use dark chocolate chips but in the written recipe it says semi sweet chocolate chips. I definitely will use dark chocolate chips next time, but as I didn’t have any yesterday, I used the semi sweet chocolate chips and it was still excellent. Maybe I’m wrong but they are 2 different things right? Anyhow, great recipe!!
Another amazing recipe and instructional video by Chef John! Turned out amazingly, family loved it! I will just say though that I personally felt the topping was too salty and next time I will cut the salt in half. ( I am a salt nut on savory foods trust me, but I personally do not like salty desserts. So if you don't like salty/sweet desserts, then cut it in half.)
Wow! Another winner from Chef John! Followed his recipe to a T and this turned out ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY! I would never have known how to prepare it otherwise, so thank-you CJ!
It was my first time making fried fish, so I really appreciated the video and excellent instructions from Chef John. However, we found it quite plain. Totally greasy, but indeed very very crispy and remained crispy the entire meal. (Over an hour.) Next time, we’ll add more salt and add pepper to the rice flour you dip into before resting it on the crinkled foil. Or maybe add some more salt and pepper in the beer dip? I’m not quite sure where to add it, but it was quite plain we felt.
I’m soooo sorry. I usually absolutely love every recipe Chef John has shared with us (and I have cooked tons of his dishes), but these were insanely too sweet in my opinion (and I love sugar sadly) and we kept biting into undissolved salt crystals which was a total turn off. (He said to use kosher salt and most of the crystals didn’t dissolve.) I will never make this recipe again and am still on the hunt for the perfect brownie recipe that has nuts! I think nuts helps cut the sweetness in general.

These were amazing! Just slightly sweet (I do not like sweet dinner rolls) perfect flavor and not yeasty tasting (like a lot of bread recipes). Very soft and delicious with butter especially. The whole family loved them.
