You must add some water to the sugar mixture.Just like the other reviews said, the sugar will not melt unless you add some water. I had to start over with dry mix the sugar, cornstarch and the salt then add some of the water then melt that mixture while stirring. Meanwhile, mix the rest of the water and the eggs together.Once the sugar mixture is successfully fully melted..., remove from heat then, while whisking, add the egg and water mixture (to that sugar mixture pot). Once fully mixed in, heat that pot (on stove) slowly at first, then while whisking/stirring constantly raise to medium heat, whisking constantly until 'suddenly' the mixture will thicken. Remove from heat and whisk until completely smooth, then add the butter and lemon, whisk until completely smooth again and cover. Let cool completely.

Great Hashbrowns that stuck together just right! I used my new food chopper with a 2-liter capacity, pulsing chunked potatoes and onion then added the rest of the ingredients and carefully pulse chopped until desired texture. Transfer to a bowl to stir in egg evenly. Even when mixed ahead it was great.
This was such an easy way to cook cabbage! I love cabbage with a roasted texture and have slaved over a cast-iron skillet, a wok, or a chef's pan many times trying to keep the temp just right only to have had my cabbage soggier than I meant to many times.
This was so obviously simple when I first saw the recipe. I had my doubts but followed the cooking temp and times in the recipe exactly, but with a full large cookie sheet of cabbage wedges. Okay, I may have added a couple of minutes in the end because I wanted mine a little burnt on the edges.
HINT- When you turn the cabbage wedges, use a spatula to tip them over with the inside corner remaining against the pan.
You can basically spice it the way you want it. I used Olive Oil and a Lil chili oil together (to go with my Asian flavored grilled Pork), with some red pepper flakes and a Lil garlic salt, Garlic powder, No-salt seasoning that had various other peppers in it. I mixed my spices in my oil then brushed it on both sides.
The cabbage was tender enough on the inside and nicely roasted on the outside. !!! Voila !!!
Since then, I made it again, but in the last half of cooking, I cooked my rope sausage too by just laying it right over the cabbage wedges. Too Simple!!
This recipe works great with Butternut Squash instead of pumpkin.
I just:
* halved my Large Butternut Squash, and removed seeds.
*Baked both halves (cut side down) in 1-2 inch deep water in the same 9" x 12" glass dish I made the casserole in, seen in the picture,
* at 350 for 1 & half hrs, then I just left it alone, letting it cool in the oven.
Later, when you are ready to mix your casserole, just spoon out the Butternut Squash, being careful not to tear into the skin.
Don't bother measuring the squash out for this 'Easy Pumpkin (or Butternut Squash) Casserole' recipe, even if your squash is really large like mine was, it'll be great!!
This Chocolate Cobbler is so easy and very yummy.
The chocolate sauce turned out perfectly for me and for my son (who I mailed the dry ingredients to, pre-mixed in 2 ziplock baggies for each step, at Easter, during our COVID-19 sheltering in place)
I added about 1/2 c Black Coffee as 'part of my boiling water'. It was great!! Still, One and a half cups total.
I read that more than 1 person only used a half a stick = 4Tblspns of (real) butter and did that just fine, in an 8"x 8" glass pan/dish.
If you are serving more than 4 people, double this recipe. See pic. The bowls seen there are fairly small.
