This is the real deal. I followed the recipe as written and waited over a year before sampling this black gold. It is decadent stuff.

This is an excellent recipe. It is a fluffy and moist sponge-type cake with a rich, yeasty flavor.Notes:#1: I added 1 tsp. of sugar to the 1/2 cup of warm water to dissolve the 2 tsps. of yeast. Otherwise, it would not activate and become foamy.#2: I lined the steamer basket with parchment paper and omitted the cake pan (as pictured).#3: I used 1/4 cup of my favorite raisins, "Trader Joe's Jumbo Raisin Medley"roughly chopped into smaller pieces.
