Winner. As a previous posted suggested, left off the bread crumbs, dried scallops and seasoned with salt and pepper. Delicious! We will make this again!
This was ok, I used canned hash instead of the mashed potatoes. Was a little bland. Used mainly the cooking method and the suggestion to add an egg. My FIL has nostalgia for these---his mom used to make them. He wanted me to make some for the super bowl appies. I attempted them! Added a slice of cheese to melt on the top.
This was simply an amazing bread, and I have made a lot of breads in twenty years. I did make a change---my honey was solidified so I added an egg to make up for lack of liquid (I have found the solidified honey as a sweetener makes really good bread). I also halved the recipe and mixed in my bread machine because my machine couldn't handle that much flour. I ended up with two loaves (after mixing in machine and let rise for an hour and half I shaped the loaves and let rise for another hour). My boys loved the slices with butter and I made sandwiches with the extra loaf. Great sandwich bread, I have to say! I am thinking would make really good toast also. Will have to make again to try for breakfast toast (; Great texture, held up well slicing. Definitely going into my bread rotation.
I added an extra egg and make two small braided loaves with this. The second loaf didn't get eaten so I made mushroom dressing with it. Now that was amazing! I will have to make this bread just to have that dressing again. Thanks for the recipe!
I totally deficent at making cornbread! Which is weird because I am a great baker. But cornbread never turns out for me. I usually stick to the pkg. mix but everyonce in awhile I tried to make it from scratch. This one didn't work for me either...not the recipe's fault, mine. Here that sigh? Bottom hard, top sank. But I don't want to take away from the recipe's rating so I am going to give it 5
