**Edit: Coming back here four years later to say that I still make and use this recipe. I multiply the amount and keep a jar in my cabinet. When I’m out, I make it again. Still use it for the sausage, green bean, potato dish, but it also goes well with shrimp, pork, and roasted potatoes. One of my essential recipes! Thanks for sharing.I made this recipe as written, opting not to use the red pepper flakes and felt it had the right amount of heat. I wanted to try making the recipe "Instant Pot sausage, green beans, and potatoes" and it called for cajun spice mix, but I didn't have any. I'm grateful I found this because I had everything in my pantry. I will triple it next time and keep the mix handy for next time I make the IP sausage dish (google it) because it was fantastic, quick and easy!
Some times I just crave pancakes and this is an awesome recipe. I usually have all the ingredients on hand which makes it so convenient to throw together.
I love this recipe for two reasons— it is very easy to put together and since it cooks in the slow cooker it is ideal for big meals when the oven is occupied. Right after it is done, it tastes excellent. In my opinion it is not as good when reheated as leftovers— it becomes thick and a little bland. Still a very good recipe and will definitely make again for first two reasons mentioned.

Very good and it is similar to Wendy’s chili, especially in the consistency. I like my chili a bit loose, not so thick a spoon stands up in it and this fit the bill. I added a couple of spoonfuls of brown sugar instead of vinegar at the end just because of personal preference. I cooked mine for 2.5 hours because it took that long for the stewed tomatoes to break down instead of remaining intact. Will make again.
This is my second time making this recipe. The first time, they were great! This time, half of them stuck in the pan and fell apart. It’s a total disaster! I didn’t do anything different and followed the recipe, except I only made half the filling. I did that the first time, too. I can’t figure out what went wrong. They only thing different is that I’m making these in early September in SC and it was almost 100 degrees today vs last time it was closer to Christmas and cooler. I just don’t know. I’m devastated as I’m supposed to bring these on a trip with the Church ladies and I’m too embarrassed to offer these up. I could cry.
