Finishing my review. This app sent before I could finish. Without a bread machine, this bread is a little tricky since I didn’t know how a bread machine operated with the kneading. I added the water, honey and yeast in a measuring cup till it foamed up. Then transferred to my kitchen aid mixer with the rest of the ingredients using the dough hook. I let the mixer run a good ten minutes but the dough never got past the goopy stage. I ended up pouring it into my Pullman pan. Letting it rise, poked it down and started my oven at 350. By the time the preheat was done, I popped it in the oven for 35 minutes. It overflowed the Pullman pan. Pulled off the pieces that leaked out and buttered them and gave them to my husband to munch on. Being it overflowed, it was hard to get the lid off. Once I got that off, dumped it out on my wire rack. It was so hard to wait for it to cool enough to slice it. The bread is AMAZING! Very soft, nice air bubbles, not too big. Pullman pans make beautiful square loaves like Wonderbread, so was nice to have soft bread again. Nice that I didn’t need to go buy a bread machine to make this wonderful bread!!! Oh, I did up the serving from 8 to 12 so that I would be sure to have enough rise for my pan. Next time I will try 10!
This is an awesome pie! Couldn’t find my big pie pan so used a regular pan, wow did it puff up. This filling was better than my crust so will have to keep practicing. very easy to put together and leaves plenty of room for creativity if you are in the mood for experimentation. I’d make it as written most of the time though. Hard to improve on profection.
Followed the recipe with one change. My mother can't handle pasta in her diet so made it and spooned it on top of a bed of spaghetti squash. It was fantastic! There were no left overs. ??
Loved this recipe! I didn't have fresh garlic so used garlic paste instead, that was my only change. Turned out beautiful. We LOVE garlic here so had I had the fresh stuff I don't think it would have been over powering as some reviews said, it's all in your personal taste though so some who just like a hint of garlic flavor would want to cut it back. I laughed at all the people cringing at "all that butter". You end up with a lot of it left in the pan, it's not all being ingested. Butter isn't evil. I also placed my chicken strips on a paper towel for a minute so I didn't experience that greasiness that some complained of. Nuked my limes for 20 seconds because heating them makes it easier to get more juice out of a fresh lemon or lime. Served with rice and garlic green beans. Will try it with angel hair next time as another reviewer did. Next time I will sprinkle with a touch of shaved parm once the meal is plated.
