I decid d to make our beans because there is so much more salt in the canned. I followed the recipe but had to add mor water. My stove heats very hot. When I could smell them I added more molases and catsup for personal taste. I love the fact that the recipe is 42plus years old.
I had Turkey instead of Chicken. I thicken with rice not flour. I did not add Shrimp and sausage. I used 1/2 thyme thinking it might be too much-it wasn’t. Definitely will make it again. This was my favorite soup as a child.
I read the comments and used an 8x9 dish. I also used two tbsp of Tapioca an let it rest after baking for 20 minutes. Delicious
